Turn that frown upside down

I was going to write a blog about how spectacularly crappy I felt this morning, after a weekend of eating food that was not so good for me, not working out and having a fridge that is barely functioning. But I had an epiphany at that point that I need to turn my frown upside down and not succumb to negativity. Nothing that transpired this weekend is so personally devastating that I need to wallow in a pool of self-pity. So to remind myself how good I got it, I am going to the list the top 10 things that I am thankful for after this weekend:
1. I have the means necessary if I have to replace my fridge and the food contained therein.
2. Nobody got sick from the food I served them from that fridge over the weekend.
3. The rain that was called for over the weekend only materialized Friday night, and did not ruin any plans.
4. I got to spend time with my parents who were visiting from Wisconsin—and we didn’t need elaborate plans for it to be quality time.
5. I also spent time with my brother and his family, and it is nice that we can all pick up where we left off as we don’t get to see each other too much.
6. I work for a company that treats its employees well, as they sponsored a day at the horse track complete with food and beverages that was a lot of fun.
7. My husband and I spent quality time together visiting a local tap room, where we chatted with the brewers, listened to some great live bluegrass, and relaxed in the beautiful surroundings.
8. Eating a mostly vegetarian, clean diet makes my body feel amazing, and when I don’t eat that way I feel sluggish and achy.
9. I have an eleven year old niece who shares my love of music, and who is interested in how I got started exercising, then teaching group fitness, and tattoos. She is wise beyond her years.
10. I get to celebrate my husband’s birthday today, just him and I.
