For the Love of Nature

“There is pleasure in the pathless woods, there is rapture in the lonely shore, there is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar; I love not Man the less, but Nature more.” Lord Byron

I spent a few days visiting friends in Colorado and it was great to catch up after several months apart.  We spent much of our time enjoying views like the one above, climbing the mountains or hiking the trails.  Now I don’t consider myself an outdoor enthusiast, but I do consider myself a nature lover.

There is something about breathing the air, seeing the beautiful mountains, rocks and trees that is absolutely rejuvenating.  My friend commented on the same thing, saying running outside was so different from being on a treadmill.  It’s nature, my friend.  She takes care of us in so many ways that nurture us mind, body and soul.

Being amongst the nature in Colorado made me determined to seek more of it in my home state of Ohio.  Hiking and biking the trails of Ohio may not exactly be Colorado, but I believe it will have the same effect on me.  Gratitude, appreciation, a renewed sense to conserve.  Now if only it would stop raining!

When is the last time you immersed yourself in nature? Taken a trip to the park, or even your backyard to gaze upon the bounty Mother Nature has provided?  Maybe you live deep in he city.  Buy a plant, or plant some flowers in a container.  Take a terrarium building class-they are all the rage.

You don’t need acres of open space to enjoy nature.  Create your own oasis and relish the smile on your face every time you gaze upon it.  Breathe deeply and be thankful.  Let it nourish you.  So simple yet so effective.
